少年時代の回顧系に、作者お得意の謎生物描写（実際は謎じゃなくて言い方がヘンなだけなんだろうけど）が混じる展開。文体が主人公（おそらく作者自身）にあわせて小学生チックに書かれているのがところどころに笑いを誘う。
映画の映写機に夢中になった話やミボージンカイなどは先日読んだ「まわれ映写機」と若干かぶっていて、まあこの人の場合話がかぶるのはしょっちゅうなんだけど、ちょうど文庫化とかもあってなかなか避けがたいことになっているなぁと。
