Eye-Fi card

I wanna buy one...thank you for your detailed review!
I was one of the beta testers (as part of getting Vox and TP in!) and yeah, it's great. Even though USB sync has gotten pretty good, it's still so much nicer to just have it happen automatically.

Great writeup!
Do you want one when you come to SF later this month? I could order a couple more from Amazon so you can bring them back!
Great. Thanks for adding Vox/TP to the list! I found that the photo uploaded to Vox via Eye-fi doesn't add titles. Might be a bug on our end or their software not sending a correct title field. I'll check for the next release.
Can we talk to them so they can allow users to add their own Movable Type installation endpoint (or actually any other custom software that supports OAuth/AtomPub thing for photo uploads)? That'd be rad.
Also, an FAQ asked by 3 people already. Can you make the card to connect whatever open WiFi network available? The answer is No, but adding common open networks like "Linksys" would help a bit :)
wow, that sounds awfully COOL (@@)

Thank you for your very kind offer.

But let me think for a while about the battery life thing. :-)

This is very cool, thanks for so much detail! I was looking at this last week, and I'd love to be able to transfer my photos to my computer w/o plugging it in, so even that part of it sounded really useful.

Only thing that I was a little hesitant about is that it's going to go into a eye-fi directory on my computer and I'll have to do something special to add them to my iPhoto directory with all my other photos. But still it might be worth it, and to have the added bonus of being able to send to Vox if I wanted to also? super duper.... :)

great review. any change in opinion now that you've had it for a while? i'm considering getting one for my parents so that the transfer from their camera to their macbook can be automated.
There was a firmware update since I wrote this, that allows Eye-Fi card to first upload photos to the computer (PC or Mac) and then to their manager site and photo sharing sites, only if the computer and your Eye-Fi are on the same LAN. That fixes the battery consumption problem and speeds up the syncing photos from your camera to the computer. So it's still cool :)
