I grabbed this from Garth's bookshelf and started reading it the last Sunday. I've already read it in Japanese and am enjoying the 2nd read in English. This will make it a book to read on this Friday's flight to Tokyo.
As a longtime Murakami fan, I always wondered if the English translations really capture his voice and humor. The dialog and the deadpan humor, and all that. I'd be curious to hear your impression. Arigatou gozaimasu!
I am still reading this book, since I'm sort of a slow reader (especially in English :). But so far as I read, the translation doesn't loose the original feeling of Murakami's wording. His writing is very simple, but rhythmical to make all readers grin.
Ah, thank you for verifying that! I'm glad the translators made special efforts to retain the original feeling. And now I can trust that Murakami is indeed that funny!
