Weekend recap
- On Friday evening I went down to Mountain View to join the party at jkondo's place. There were a couple of friends from Hatena and the drink and food were so great.
- Because no one was interested in driving me to the Caltrain station and everyone else were staying at his house as planned, I stayed at his place as well.
- Next morning he gave us a ride to the SFO airport and then SOMA for me. Back home Saturday morning like 10am.
- Was still a bit sleepy and had a random nap while watching F1 US Grand Prix qualifying round.
- Did some hacking to write media-rss-server.pl, which scans windows Hard Disk drive and publish RSS 2.0 feeds with enclosures and MediaRSS. It makes me easy to subscribe from my HTPC mac using Democracy Player. Also added a hack to generate thumbnails for the movies using ffmpeg.exe. Works great.
- Woke up 10am Sunday morning.
- Saw La Liga Espanola final round (Real Madrid v. Mallorca) and the ending was exciting. Watching SopCast peer-to-peer streaming from Mac (by connecting VLC to Windows) just worked.
- Also watched F-1 US Grand Prix on Fox TV. The video quality was great but there were too many commercials, like every 10 minutes. I'll skip watching the next French GP on Fox.
- It was 5pm and the outside was still shiny. I took a walk to Embarcadero and finished reading Everyone Worth Knowing. It's clearly not the greatest book for this year, but I've been enjoying it for a few weeks.
- Had a good BBQ pork ramen and shrimp fried rice in House of Hunan, which is getting to my weekly habit.
Comments
I will give it a try... but I wish it existed a better way to control my digital assets with a remote only.
I have a dozen of books I picked in Narita airport, but the next one would be Cathedral by Raymond Carver, translated into Japanese by Murakami. The other books are mostly Japanese thrillers, essay and suspense novels.
