World Cup and Conferences Schedule Conflicts
So FIFA World Cup 2006 is going to start tonight. Japan's 1st match is against Australia and is on Monday night 10pm Japan localtime. We're gonna watch the game in my apartment with a huge HDTV screen. That's gonna be very exciting!
One sad thing, though. If Japan makes it to pass the qualifying round, I have to watch the final tournament games outside of Japan, namely in US (San Francisco, Chicago, Boston and New York). Looks like YAPC::NA organizers didn't care much about the shcedule overlap with FIFA World Cup, because they're American.
Agh.
Comments
we have "LocationFree". I hope internet connectivity at YAPC::NA will be good and not like YAPC::Asia at Tokyo :P
There's a good pub here in San Francisco that just got a nice new big TV specifically for World Cup matches.
sekimura-san: Yeah, I'd definitely use LocationFree to watch the games. But you know, it's still LocationFree, not food enough for sport games like soccer/football.
Gremster: Good news. If Japan makes it, I'd definitely look for a pub to watch the game if possible. But i wonder if the timezone works really well. You know, evening in Germany is probably morning in the Bay Area. Later I'll move to CDT and EDT (Chicago, NY), so that'd get better.
come over here ;-)
