After watching the US presidential debate, this Taro Aso's speech depresses me a bit, not what he's talking about, but the hoot the Democrats make to disturb the speech. They can't even listen to what people are saying. And they just suddenly stop hooting when Aso talks about the relationship with Korea and China. How obvious is that?
LDP is just evil. DPJ is fucking stupid. Don't vote for them.
The brand-new Keitai Novel "Atashi Kanojo (= I'm your GF)" got the Keitai Novel Award 2008 and has the new style: Girly speak with few-words at a line, just like Takahashi Method as seen in tech presentations. It goes like this:
My Name.
Aki.
Age?
24 yrs old.
BF?
Sure I have.
Why not?

Japanese PM wants to enable DST, starting as soon as 2009.
I personally like Daylight Saving Time (I know most people hate it!) because it's great that it's still sunny when you leave your office.
But I'm sure it doesn't work that way in Japan, because they usually work from 9am to 10pm. It doesn't matter if your clock goes 1 hour earlier in that situation.
All you get with the daylight saving time is that you'll be in the office more hours under the sun, which means more air conditioning is necessary. Hence more energy consumption. Obvious.
In addition, that'll make the whole software industory in panic. Most software in Japan just assume that the UTC offset is +9, probably hard-coded. So, I'd say bury the idea.
Was a bit cold (but not too cold) and had awesome 3 days with full of beer, sushi, ramen, crab, hotspring, soft ice cream, great night view and historical buildings. I really enjoyed it! The full set of photos are available on Flickr.
This week is all about drinking for me. But unfortunately, drinking in Tokyo usually means yummy yummy food and endless battle to escape from cigar smoke around you. Why on earth do Japanese people really care about their health by paying too much attention on food expiry date, but still smoke while eating? It doesn't totally make sense.
Hopefully drinking tomorrow and Friday is gonna happen in my friends house, not in restaurants. So I guess I can escape from smoke...
Yay! Dedicated to my French co-workers in the office :P
Seriously though, it just reflects the fact Tokyo has more restaurants (good or bad) based on the population and its density. And most of the star-rated restaurants we don't even consider going since they're still expensive.
The beauty of Tokyo life is that I can get a decent food anywhere, anytime (even 2am in the midnight) in Tokyo with the half-price of that in San Francisco.
Japanese immigration will start scanning fingerprints and taking photographs of foreign visitors like USA does, as a part of anti-terrorists law updates. This law seems to become effective next week.
Well, they decide/update laws like this while we're all not aware of (-- and they do a lot. Everytime we have elections the theme is some bullshit stuff like "Making Postal Office a private company" or "How to compensate lost pension notes")
Anyway, having FP scanned and face photo taken is one of the most gross and annoying experience at airports. When I come back to USA and go through the security process, I always feel that I'm not welcomed. Already feeling sorry for what all travelers feel in Narita.
