The official, but unpublished YAPC::Asia ending movie is here. We planned to play this at the closing ceremony but we couldn't because of Takesako-san's hard drive trouble.
I'm going to Vienna to attend to and speak at YAPC::Europe 2007. Arriving at Sunday morning after 16 hours of flight via Washington DC, and leaving Friday morning, coming back to San Francisco in the evening the same day.
See you soon if you're there too!
I installed Democracy, the decent Videocast client program on Mac mini and am enjoying the High-Def content from the Web, like Rocketboom, Ask a Ninja and Diggnation. (Some of them might not be technically HD but the quality is good enough).
One of my fave sites to find trailers is Dave's Trailers Page, which collects links to mostly HD movie trailers on Yahoo! movies or Apple trailers page every week. But the site doesn't have an RSS feed and there's no way to track or automatically download the new trailers, etc.
So I made the feed. You can subscribe to the feed using Democracy or just default iTunes, and hook the computer to the TV. Every day you can get the High-Def (the feed is linking to 720p quality one) trailers automatically, which is very nice.
For those who are interested, It's done by 20 lines of Web::Scraper script and the latest plagger on SVN. You can change to 1080p if you want, and run it yourself to host the rss feed file. I guess you might be able to do this with Y! Pipes but scraping data is dead easy if you use Web::Scraper module, which I'll talk about in YAPC::Europe in Vienna.
Slideshare is a great 2.0 site to share Powerpoint/keynote slides online. You can even embed the flash "Slideshow" to your blog as well. Ben and my slides at YAPC::Asia are now online:
Heh, and the vox slide is now featured on slideshare top page.
- I was a bit scared of too many English talks in the conference. But apparently it was ok. Or maybe the people not ok with that are just silent...
- nipotan, Yappo and MJD's Lightning Talks were awesome.
- Live interpretation for Ben's talk was fun.
- I just started writing my slides this morning 4am and finished it 2pm, which is one hour before my actual session. It was probably too much details but it was fun.
- Lots of funny talks in the dinner tonight with Jesse and Ingy.
- Hackathon this weekend!
- Tons of thanks to staff and voluntary people of YAPC::Asia. It feels like magic that when I came to the venue yesterday morning and everything was almost setup and the volunteer people worked as receptionists and everything else so flawlessly. Awesome.
